Fears are  preventing us  both in  our private life an business life. In general, the fear of failure, rejection, change, inadequacy is heavily influenced by the performance of the employees and the organization, and is therefore they are popular subjects in the business life. Today I want to write about the fear of losing freedom. I believe that the biggest chance is the one that you get when you were born. In what land, which country you are a citizen of,  brings  a fortune for you. How do you evaluate luck factors statistically in a child born in Libya, a child born in Canada or Sweden, in Afghanistan? I do not usually think I’m very positive but I thought I was lucky to be born in Turkey ever since I was born. I think I can not have what it takes to live in a country where you can not use your basic citizenship rights, can not provide your physical security, can not meet your basic needs like housing, security, education or living in a country where you are categorized as second class citizen because of your sex, color of your skin, I felt lucky myself. 4-5 years ago I went to Arab countries for my job. I realized that what we have rights that is far beyond our predictions as a woman in our daily life.  What are those rights? For example, you can walk alone on the road, you can sit and work in the public areas, driving, dressing, chewing gum,  smoking in public places, training, choosing and voting, working in appropriate fields and getting a job.  Believe me, I can extend this list. Do you realize that these are freedom? I was not. When I come back o Turkey, ,I realized that this journey motivated me. For a while, at home, on the street , at work every time I reliazed my freedom, I was thankful and happy. I think every woman who lives in Turkey should be aware of these freedoms and achievements that are guaranteed in the legal environment until now. Lately, I have the fear of losing these freedoms. My worries and fears are growing. In this country, Republic of Turkey, which is Independent, democratic, secular, friendly with its neighbors, has strong diplomatic tradition and which gave democratic rights to women before many countries in Europe , Will I have the chance to live, work and countinue my acqutisitions away from terrorism and war? What about my son’s future? Will my son live in a future that is similar to the countries where I travel and be thankful to my country when I return from? I am sure many people living in this land like me have the same questions and the same concerns in their minds. Here  there are a few things I noticed. The system, the rules and the environment are affecting people. For example, a man who lives in England; however uses violence against his wife , who does not obey traffic laws , who does not support  his daughter for her education in Turkey can say that personal freedom is the most important difference and everyone can happily do what they want in England when he is asked to compare Turkey and Europe. However, when the same man returns to his village in Turkey, the  he can put pressure on the daughter because of the gossip and  traditions. That is why social awareness is important when it comes to laws, their applicability and, of course, individual gains. We are in 2017 but here , in Turkey conservatism is becoming more common. For example, look at the clothing of women and the culture of the city in the 70s – 80s There were no cinemas or theaters in the cities that time. There is a very striking change in the clothes. Conservatism is a choice, but diversity is important? There were many cultures, religions in anatolian lands for many years. All of us have very diverse roots here in anatolia. The diversity and collective reason we talk about in business, in fact, is in our genes, in our past; but what is happening now is polarizing so fast, I do not understand that we are under the influence of Arabic cultures that are not at all close to us. Fear helps nothing.  We have been living in this land for 90 years as the Republic of Turkey, but we also live on the land of the heritage and values of thousands of years. We can not give up  the achievments of Atatürk and his friends and the struggle they gave for independence, freedom, civilization. To face our fears, we first need to realize our liberties. Now we realized what we have exactly. The Hungarian philosopher Slovaj Zizek described the utopia as follows; “When the real utopia situation is desperate, that is, if there is no way to find a solution within the coordinates of the possible, it emerges only with the necessity to invent a new field of survival. Utopia is not a product of free imagination, utopia is a matter of internal necessity; you will have to imagine the only way out is for it to be. This is the utopia we need today. “In the beginning of the 1900s, Atatürk actualized his own utopia despite a lot of obstacles and  the independent Republic of Turkey was born from the shattered soils. Fethi Sekin, martyr, actualized another utopia two days ago in the terrorist attack in Izmir. In the days when pessimism and negativism are waning, Fethi Sekin became a hero who reminded us to be human again, optimism, courage, sharing, coexistence, and the values that made us ‘us’  in Anatolia. For our country, for us  it is obvious that it is a sincere necessity. It’s time to create our own utopia.  Let’s remind each other aloud to our achievements, what we stand to dream with courage, faith, awareness and actualize our new utopia all together?
